Andhrapradesh : Officials have reportedly suspended postmaster Dhanalakshmi, who was working at the Cherukuvaripalli Branch Post Office in Sadhum Mandal of Annamayya district, following complaints against her.
According to police, the issue came to light after Dhanalakshmi filed a complaint at the police station on February 27. During the preliminary inquiry, allegations surfaced that she had collected money from customers and misused it.
Sadhum Sub-Inspector stated that she allegedly collected customers’ passbooks along with cash amounting to more than ₹5 lakh from the public and is accused of misappropriating the funds.
Police said a formal case will be registered on Monday. The matter has already been reported to higher authorities, who are expected to conduct a detailed investigation soon.
Officials stated that the truth will come out after the investigation is completed. Meanwhile, it is reported that victims are planning to stage a protest in front of the post office regarding the incident.
The issue within the postal department has become a topic of discussion locally.
