Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has deported a 27-year-old Ugandan national to her home country as part of its efforts to curb drug-related crimes and prevent activities deemed detrimental to national security.
The woman, identified as Juliana Victor Nabitaka, a native of Kampala in the Republic of Uganda, was repatriated following coordinated action by the city police and immigration authorities. According to police records, Nabitaka entered India on a tourist visa and arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, on February 12, 2024.
During her stay in India, she reportedly travelled extensively, residing in Chennai for four months, Mumbai for two months, and Bengaluru for eight months. Police investigations indicated that during this period, she came into contact with foreign nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking and began associating with them. Authorities claimed that she later became involved in the distribution of narcotics in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, allegedly to support an extravagant lifestyle.
Vaibhav Gaikwad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, H-NEW, stated that Nabitaka’s visa expired on January 18, 2025, while her passport remains valid until October 2033. Despite the expiry of her visa, she continued to stay in India illegally and allegedly maintained links with drug peddlers, engaging in unlawful activities.
She was apprehended by the H-NEW team while moving with a known drug peddler within the limits of the Tolichowki Police Station. During questioning, she reportedly failed to produce valid documents or provide a satisfactory explanation for her presence in Hyderabad. She later admitted to overstaying her visa and not possessing the required permission to remain in the country.
Following her detention, H-NEW initiated deportation proceedings with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad. An exit permit was obtained, and she was formally blacklisted from re-entering India.
Nabitaka was deported in the early hours of December 21, 2025, from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport under police escort led by Inspector G.S. Daniel, officials confirmed.
After the operation, H-NEW reiterated its commitment to making Hyderabad drug-free and issued an advisory urging citizens to stay away from substance abuse. Parents were advised to remain vigilant about their children’s activities, while members of the public were encouraged to share information related to drug offences with H-NEW as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.
