Indian Army Conducts ‘Amogh Fury’ Firepower Exercise in Thar Desert

New Delhi : In a powerful display of military might and operational coordination, the Sapta Shakti Command of the Indian Army conducted a major Integrated Fire Power Exercise, codenamed ‘Amogh Fury’, at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (MFFR) in Rajasthan’s Thar Desert.

The high-intensity drill demonstrated the Army’s cutting-edge combat readiness across multiple domains, involving the synchronized use of diverse platforms such as battle tanks, infantry combat vehicles, attack helicopters, drones, and long-range artillery systems.

An Army official stated, “The aim of ‘Amogh Fury’ was testing our combat power, coordination, and operational readiness in real-time battle scenarios.”

The exercise involved the insertion of troops and offensive ground actions, emphasizing deep synergy between various combat arms, support arms, and services. It showcased seamless integration of network-centric warfare elements, including advanced surveillance tools, real-time communication systems, and a common operating picture shared across units.

“This was not just a firepower display, but a real-time validation of our capability to operate in a multi-domain battlefield,” the official added.

Technologies tested included command and control architecture, real-time surveillance and targeting systems, all aimed at enhancing decision-making speed and precision during active combat situations. The drill particularly focused on countering emerging threats such as drone incursions and hybrid warfare tactics.

The exercise comes close on the heels of Operation Sindoor, where Pakistan attempted to damage Indian defence infrastructure and civilian areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab through artillery shelling and drone attacks. All such hostile activities were successfully intercepted and neutralised by Indian security forces.

By simulating real-time combat scenarios, ‘Amogh Fury’ reinforces the Indian Army’s commitment to jointmanship, technological integration, and preparedness in modern warfare, underlining its capability to protect the nation’s sovereignty against evolving threats.
