Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a robust economic turnaround, said Nara Lokesh, the state’s Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology, on Tuesday. Citing record-breaking GST collections and an upcoming green energy workforce initiative, Lokesh painted a picture of a state on the rise.
Taking to social media platform X, Lokesh, who is also the son of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, revealed that the state recorded ₹3,803 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in July 2025 — the highest since the inception of the GST regime in 2017. This marks a 14% year-on-year growth.
“This is also the highest GST growth rate among South Indian states and the third highest among larger states in the country. Andhra Pradesh is back, and we are just getting started,” Lokesh posted.
Major Green Skilling Conference Set for Wednesday
Lokesh is scheduled to address a high-profile green skilling conference in Vijayawada on Wednesday, titled “Empowering India’s Green Future: Andhra Pradesh as the Talent Hub for Solar and Wind Energy.”
The conference marks the official launch of what the state government is calling the largest green skilling initiative in India. With over 250 industry leaders, senior government officials, and development partners attending, the event aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into the human capital engine of India’s clean energy economy.
The initiative will focus on training thousands of youth across the state in solar and wind energy technologies — from manufacturing and installation to operations and maintenance. According to an official release, this program aligns workforce development with the twin goals of climate resilience and industrial expansion.
“This isn’t just a skilling event, it’s a mission to empower Andhra Pradesh’s youth to lead India’s green revolution,” a senior official said.
Organised by the Swaniti Initiative in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), the conference underscores the state’s commitment to sustainable development.
With more than 160 GW of renewable energy potential, Andhra Pradesh is not only positioning itself as a green energy production hub but also as a global exporter of skilled talent in clean technologies.
State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar will also deliver a keynote address alongside Lokesh.
As Andhra Pradesh accelerates both its economic revival and its green ambitions, the convergence of policy, industry, and talent development is shaping what officials hope will be a model for the rest of the country.
