Medak, Toopran Division : District Superintendent of Police (SP) D. V. Srinivasa Rao has issued a stern warning against involvement in cricket and other forms of betting, stating that strict action will be taken against those participating in or promoting such activities.
The SP expressed concern over the growing trend among youth who, driven by the desire to earn quick money, are falling into the trap of cricket betting. He noted that such habits are not only causing financial losses but, in some cases, are pushing individuals into life-threatening situations.
With the IPL season currently underway, he urged parents to remain vigilant and closely monitor their children’s behavior, especially their mobile phone usage. Any suspicious changes should be addressed immediately, he advised.
The district police have intensified efforts to curb betting activities by deploying special teams and task force units, along with the use of advanced technology for surveillance.
Reiterating the warning, the SP said that anyone found involved in betting or encouraging it will face strict legal consequences. Citizens are requested to report any information related to betting to the local police, Dial 100, or the district police control room at 8712657888. He assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
