Palnadu District / Bollapalli / Mellavagu: Residents of Mellavagu village in Bollapalli mandal are facing serious difficulties after a contractor dug up the main road for water supply pipeline works and left the site unattended. The works, which began last week, remain incomplete, causing deep trenches to form along the road. These unfilled pits have become dangerous for pedestrians, especially during the night when there is no street lighting.
Locals say that the situation has worsened over the past few days, with the risk of someone falling into the trenches increasing significantly. When villagers requested that the dug-up areas be properly filled, the on-site supervisor, identified as Rasool, allegedly behaved rudely. According to residents, he not only refused to take responsibility but also told them to “fill it yourselves,” further claiming that no one could take action against him and that “officials listen only to us.”
Villagers have expressed anger over the supervisor’s attitude, alleging that his highhanded behavior is adding to their problems. They fear that accidents are imminent if the situation is not addressed immediately.
Locals are now urging authorities to intervene without delay, complete the road restoration work, and take appropriate action against supervisor Rasool before any untoward incidents occur.
