The recent car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi has already sent shockwaves across the nation, heightening public anxiety over security. In this tense climate, even minor incidents are causing panic among citizens.
However, the conduct of Piduguralla Circle Inspector (CI) Venkat Rao has drawn criticism from local residents. Instead of addressing the rising security concerns, he was reportedly seen attending political leaders’ birthday celebrations, which has angered sections of the public. Many have expressed frustration that, while police departments across the country are on high alert and conducting awareness drives in the wake of the Delhi blast, local police in Piduguralla appear indifferent.
Cardon searches — once a common practice in both urban and rural areas — have almost disappeared, residents complain. “We don’t know who is coming and going anymore,” said one local shopkeeper. “The police seem to have completely failed in maintaining internal security.”
The influx of migrants into Piduguralla and nearby areas has also raised questions. Locals are asking: Who are these people? Where are they from?
