Andhra Pradesh – Piduguralla, Palnadu District — Residents of Piduguralla town and its surrounding areas have been gripped by fear following reports of unidentified persons wandering around during late-night hours. CCTV footage from a few residential colonies has reportedly captured suspicious individuals moving about in the dark, sparking widespread concern among locals.
The recent car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi has already sent shockwaves across the nation, heightening public anxiety over security. In this tense climate, even minor incidents are causing panic among citizens.
However, the conduct of Piduguralla Circle Inspector (CI) Venkat Rao has drawn criticism from local residents. Instead of addressing the rising security concerns, he was reportedly seen attending political leaders’ birthday celebrations, which has angered sections of the public. Many have expressed frustration that, while police departments across the country are on high alert and conducting awareness drives in the wake of the Delhi blast, local police in Piduguralla appear indifferent.
Cardon searches — once a common practice in both urban and rural areas — have almost disappeared, residents complain. “We don’t know who is coming and going anymore,” said one local shopkeeper. “The police seem to have completely failed in maintaining internal security.”
The influx of migrants into Piduguralla and nearby areas has also raised questions. Locals are asking: Who are these people? Where are they from? Are they genuine workers or linked to extremist groups? Citizens are further questioning the effectiveness of community policing, wondering if such initiatives exist in name only.
Despite the Delhi blast incident and the national focus on internal security, sources say that the Palnadu District Superintendent of Police has not yet issued any specific directives to local officials. Meanwhile, residents fear that unchecked migration could be turning into a vote-bank issue rather than a matter of public safety.
The people of Piduguralla are now urging authorities to take immediate and decisive action. They want enhanced police patrolling, public awareness campaigns, and strict monitoring of suspicious activities to restore confidence and ensure safety in the region.
