Right to Education Denied – Iridi Villagers Protest for School

Abrapradesh – Parvathipuram District : The future of school-going children in Iridi village,  Gummalakshmipuram Mandal, hangs in the balance due to the absence of even a basic school building. With no primary school in the village, students are being denied their fundamental right to education — a situation that has stirred concern and anger among locals.

Despite repeated appeals and the passage of years, the authorities have failed to act. Villagers staged a protest today, demanding immediate attention from the government, highlighting the long-standing neglect.

“Even though the District Collector visited our village in the past, nothing has changed,” said one local protester. “Our children are waiting to learn, but where is the school?”

Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, every child has the right to free and compulsory education. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that every village has access to at least primary schooling. However, due to what villagers describe as “official apathy,” children in Iridi are being pushed away from education at a crucial age.

Local residents are now urging authorities to intervene without further delay. “If not now, then when? How many futures will be lost before they act?” questioned another concerned parent.

The villagers say they won’t back down until the government takes meaningful steps toward establishing a primary school in Iridi.
