Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday made a fervent appeal to Maoist leaders and cadres to surrender and join the national mainstream, urging them to abandon violence and contribute to the state’s progress and national development.
Speaking at the Police Flag Day Parade held in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty and commended the efforts of the Telangana Police in maintaining peace and security in the state.
“I appeal to all Maoist leaders and activists who are still active to surrender before the police and reintegrate into mainstream society. It’s time to give up the path of violence and become partners in building the nation and reconstructing Telangana,” said CM Revanth Reddy.
Commendation for Police Efforts
Highlighting the state’s significant progress in tackling left-wing extremism, the Chief Minister praised the Telangana Police for their role in curbing Naxal and terrorist activities over the years.
“Telangana once suffered from Maoist and terrorist violence. But thanks to the unflinching dedication of our police forces, such activities have drastically declined,” he said.
He further lauded the force for its technological advancements and innovative policies, stating that the Telangana Police had been ranked first in the India Justice Report 2025.
“Our police have shown exemplary commitment in preventing terrorism, drug trafficking, cybercrimes, white-collar crimes, and other anti-social activities. They’ve become a model for the rest of the country,” he added.
Battle Against Cybercrime and Drugs
The Chief Minister noted the emergence of new threats such as cybercrime, digital fraud, morphing, and human trafficking, asserting that Telangana is at the forefront in combating these challenges.
A special Cyber Security Bureau headed by a DGP-rank officer has been set up to counter cyber threats. “This bureau is now a benchmark for other states, having carried out successful inter-state operations against cybercriminals,” he said.
On the drug menace, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the formation of EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement), a specialized unit tasked with eradicating drugs in the state.
“We are committed to making Telangana a drug-free state. The police have been given full authority and support to deal with the issue decisively,” he asserted.
Honouring Fallen Heroes
During the event, the Chief Minister remembered the sacrifices of 191 police personnel across the country, including six from Telangana, who died in the line of duty this year.
He paid homage to Greyhounds commandos T. Sandeep, V. Sridhar, and N. Pawan Kalyan; Assistant Commandant Banothu Jawaharlal; Nalgonda Constable B. Saidu; and Constable Empalli Pramod Kumar, who died recently in Nizamabad.
In a gesture of support, CM Revanth Reddy announced comprehensive aid for Pramod Kumar’s family, including:
