Police Crack Down on Illegal Ganja Smuggling in Pakala – Four Arrested

Tirupati District, Pakala, March 29: Police conducted a raid on illegal ganja smuggling in Pakala mandal of Tirupati district and arrested four persons. About 5.1 kg of ganja was seized from their possession. Another आरोपी is absconding, said CI Chinna Govindu.

Acting on the instructions of Tirupati District SP L. Subbarayudu and under the guidance of Chandragiri SDPO Bethapudi Prasad, special checks were conducted within the limits of Pakala Urban Police Station.

On March 28, based on credible information, Pakala SI C. Tarun along with his team conducted inspections near the hillock area on Kundevaaripalli–Sankampalli road. During the operation, four individuals behaving suspiciously were chased and apprehended.

The arrested persons were identified as Pujari Muni (28), Mullatanti Rakesh (26), Singanamalli Sunil Kumar (32), and Akkanagari Venkata Sai (21).

During the search, police seized ganja packed in 8 large packets and 11 small packets, with an estimated value of around ₹50,000.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused procured ganja at low prices from a person named Janardhan in Tirupati and sold it in small packets in Pakala and surrounding areas. CI Chinna Govindu stated that Janardhan used to source ganja from Visakhapatnam and supply it locally.

A case has been registered at Pakala Urban Police Station, and the accused have been produced before the court. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused Janardhan, who has been identified as A-5. The seized ganja has been sent for chemical analysis.

Police Warning:
CI Chinna Govindu warned that transportation, sale, and consumption of narcotic substances like ganja are illegal. He urged the public to inform the police immediately if they come across any such activities.
