Donkinavalasa, Vizianagaram — As part of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, The Reporter TV covered a significant community health initiative under the newly launched Swasth Naari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan, held today at Donkinavalasa village in Badangi Mandal.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, including women, children, youth, and the elderly. Key dignitaries in attendance included Village Sarpanch B. Simhachalamamma, Active Sarpanch P. Ramakrishna, PHC Doctor Shaik Imran, HV Appalamma, HV Nirmala Devi, and various health workers.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shaik Imran highlighted the objectives and services offered under the new central government initiative. He stated:
“The Government of India has newly launched the Swasth Naari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan with the motto ‘Healthy Women, Strong Families’. This program is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to ensure a healthier future for every Indian citizen.”
As part of the program, 11 essential health services were provided at the event:
Maternal and Child Health Services, Immunization, and Hemoglobin Testing
Health Checkups for the Elderly
Screening for Hypertension, Diabetes, and Cancers (Breast, Oral & Cervical)
Tuberculosis Screening
Poshan Abhiyaan Activities
IEC (Information, Education, Communication) Campaigns
Health Services for Adolescent Girls
Mental Health Services
Eat Right Campaign
Enrollment under PMVVY and PMJAY
AYUSH Services
Dr. Imran also emphasized the importance of nutritional awareness, especially for pregnant and lactating women. He advised:
“Eating nutritious food is vital. Millets help prevent chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension. To combat anemia, include drumstick leaves in the diet. Local fruits such as guava, banana, lemon, and orange should be consumed regularly. Bal Amrutam is a highly nutritious supplement for children and should be given without fail.”
The event saw active participation from village elders, youth, women, and children, who availed the services and appreciated the awareness initiatives.
This program marks a significant step forward in aligning grassroots healthcare delivery with national nutrition and health goals, aiming to build stronger, healthier families—starting with women at the heart of the effort.
