Hyderabad : In a coordinated operation involving the Hyderabad City Police, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), a Pakistani national who had been residing in India illegally since 2011 was successfully deported through the Attari Border in Punjab on Tuesday, September 9.
The deported individual, identified as Muhammad Usman alias Md Abbas Ikram (48), originally hails from Piplan, Pakistan. Usman had unlawfully entered India via Nepal in 2011 and was involved in a series of criminal activities in Hyderabad. Over the years, he was booked in four criminal cases and served sentences ranging from one month to five years.
Authorities revealed that Usman was first arrested on June 1, 2018, by the Cyber Crime Police from the Chaderghat area of Hyderabad. He was accused of blackmailing his Hyderabadi wife and threatening to circulate videos involving her minor daughter on social media. He was convicted in that case and completed his sentence in 2023.
Following his release, Usman was again taken into custody after being named in a domestic violence case. He was placed under detention at the Central Crime Station (CCS) Detention Centre in Hyderabad on September 7, 2024.
After completion of all legal formalities and coordination with Pakistani authorities via the MEA, Usman was formally handed over to Pakistan Rangers at the Attari Border on Tuesday.
CCS Detention Centre: Cracking Down on Illegal Foreign Nationals
The CCS Detention Centre, which was established on August 29, 2018, has played a crucial role in housing and processing foreign nationals involved in illegal activities. To date, it has held 158 detainees from 19 different countries. Of these, 150 individuals have been successfully deported after completion of due process.
In a recent operation last month, 20 Bangladeshi nationals—nine of them women—were deported for illegal stay and human trafficking. They were apprehended in coordinated raids across the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police commissionerates. The detainees were found in possession of Bangladeshi documents.
The police communicated the details of the group to the Bangladesh Embassy through the MEA. After clearance from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and MHA, a team from the Border Security Force (BSF) escorted the group to the India-Bangladesh border for repatriation.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to upholding national security and ensuring that foreign nationals involved in unlawful activities are dealt with in accordance with the law and international norms.
