UAE President Accepts US Invitation to Join Board of Peace for Gaza

Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday announced that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted an invitation from the United States to join the newly established Board of Peace, an initiative aimed at advancing stability and peace in Gaza.

The decision was announced by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, who said the move underscores the UAE’s commitment to supporting international efforts toward a just and lasting peace in the region.

In a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized that the UAE’s decision reflects the importance of fully implementing US President Donald J. Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza. He noted that the plan is critical to realizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The statement reaffirmed the UAE’s confidence in President Trump’s leadership and his commitment to global peace, citing the Abraham Accords as a historic example of successful diplomacy. Sheikh Abdullah also reiterated the UAE’s readiness to actively contribute to the mission of the Board of Peace, supporting greater cooperation, stability, and prosperity at both regional and international levels.

On Saturday, the UAE had welcomed the announcement of the launch of the second phase of the peace plan, along with the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a temporary transitional body established pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, praised the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan and the formal establishment of the NCAG, describing them as important steps toward effective governance and long-term stability in Gaza.

The UAE also welcomed President Trump’s announcement of the Board of Peace, describing it as a key framework to consolidate stability and advance the political process. In this context, Al Hashimy commended the leadership of President Trump, as well as the sustained efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in supporting the peace process and strengthening prospects for security and stability in the region.

“The UAE believes that achieving lasting peace requires the concerted efforts of the international community and effective governance of the Gaza Strip in a way that ensures the legitimate rights and aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people,” Al Hashimy said. She added that such efforts would contribute to regional stability and support a more secure and prosperous future.

US President Donald Trump announced the creation of the Board of Peace for Gaza last week, as the Gaza peace deal reached in October entered its second phase, focusing on full demilitarization and reconstruction. In recent days, several world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have reportedly received invitations to join the proposed board.
