Amid growing concerns over a possible petrol and diesel shortage in Telangana, the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association has clarified that there is no actual shortage of fuel in the state. In an official statement, the association assured the public that fuel stocks are sufficient and urged people not to panic.
According to the association, public sector oil companies such as HPCL, IOCL, and BPCL have more than adequate reserves to meet the state’s requirements. The current situation, they said, is not due to supply issues but rather a surge in demand driven by public anxiety.
Fearing a shortage, motorists have been rushing to fuel stations in large numbers and opting for full tank refills, causing stocks at retail outlets to deplete quickly. Once the stock runs out, it takes some time for fresh supplies to arrive from depots.
During this gap, ‘No Stock’ boards are being displayed, which is misleading people into believing there is a persistent shortage. In Hyderabad and other major towns, fuel stations have been witnessing heavy rush since early morning, with long queues of vehicles.
Petrol pump owners expressed concern, saying, “There is no shortage, but panic buying and the urge to stock up are creating artificial congestion at fuel stations.”
