- Surprise Inspections Conducted at Pedda Peerlachavadi Mutton Market
Tirupati : Tirupati Municipal Corporation Health Officer Dr. Yuva Anvesh has issued a stern warning to traders, stating that strict action will be taken against those selling spoiled, stored, or substandard meat and food products in the city. The warning comes in response to complaints from the public regarding the sale of goat and sheep parts, including legs and heads, allegedly brought from other states and stored in freezers for extended periods before being sold.
Acting on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Sharada Devi, Dr. Yuva Anvesh, along with sanitation staff, conducted surprise inspections on Friday at the Pedda Peerlachavadi Mutton Market in the 28th Ward. During the inspections, officials discovered a large quantity of meat emitting foul odors and being stored in freezers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yuva Anvesh said that low-quality meat was reportedly being procured from other states at cheaper rates and stored in freezers for several days before being supplied to hotels and sold to consumers in the city. He emphasized that the municipal authorities would not tolerate any business practices that endanger public health.
The Health Officer instructed all meat vendors to strictly adhere to food safety regulations and ensure that only fresh meat is sold to customers. He warned that shops found violating the rules would face closure, seizure of premises, and legal action.
Several sanitary inspectors and municipal sanitation personnel participated in the inspection drive. Officials stated that such inspections would continue regularly to safeguard public health and ensure food safety standards are maintained across the city.
