Two policemen and three civilians were killed in the firing that took place in the Sopore town of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Three policemen and one civilian were also injured during the attack on the security forces, allegedly carried out by suspected terrorists.
According to sources, suspected terrorists fired upon the joint team of police and CRPF in the Arampora area of North Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off to nab the militants, sources said.
Omar Abdullah, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference vice-president, took to Twitter to condemn the attack.
“Terrible news coming in from Sopore. Such attacks must be condemned without reservation. Prayers for the injured & condolences to the families of the deceased,” Omar Abdullah tweeted.
