Arunachal Pradesh: Army Shows Bravery in Bus Mishap, Rescues All Passengers

Arunachal Pradesh – Itanagar : In a remarkable act of courage and professionalism, troops from the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps rescued 13 civilians after a bus accident in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district on Thursday, officials confirmed.

According to Defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the accident occurred near Baisakhi, where a bus carrying 13 passengers veered off the road and rolled into a valley. Responding with urgency and precision, soldiers of the Gajraj Corps launched a swift rescue operation at the accident site.

“Demonstrating the highest traditions of ‘Service Before Self’, the troops acted without delay, successfully evacuating all 13 civilians,” Lt Col Rawat said. He added that critical medical assistance was provided on-site by Army personnel, ensuring timely treatment and stabilization of the injured.

The defence spokesperson praised the troops’ actions as a testament to the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives — not just in combat, but also during civil emergencies. “The professionalism, dedication, and selfless service exhibited by the Gajraj Corps stand as a shining example of true heroes in action, always prepared to rise when every second counts,” he said.

Landslide in Tirap District Claims Two Lives; Swift Rescue by Assam Rifles and Locals Praised

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles and local residents for their prompt and courageous response during a tragic landslide in Tirap district on Wednesday that claimed two lives and left three others injured.

According to state disaster management officials, the incident took place at a construction site in Lapnan Village, where five workers were trapped under debris after a massive mudslide triggered by earth-cutting operations struck the area.

Troops from Assam Rifles, along with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), rushed to the site and carried out an intense rescue operation with the assistance of local villagers.

Tragically, two labourers — Pangkai Sankioam (25) and Jaong Pansa (18), both hailing from Kamhua Noksa village in Longding district — lost their lives after being buried under a huge mound of earth. Three others were rescued and provided medical attention.

Chief Minister Khandu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and commended the security forces and local residents for their brave and timely intervention.

Both incidents highlight the critical role played by security forces and local communities in responding to emergencies across the remote and challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
