Amaravati : Fifty-five residents of Andhra Pradesh were among the 370 Indian nationals repatriated from Thailand after being rescued from cybercrime hubs operating in Myanmar. The rescued individuals arrived in New Delhi on three separate flights arranged as part of an ongoing rescue mission by the Government of India.
According to Andhra Pradesh government officials, all 55 returnees hail from Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Upon arrival, officials from AP Bhavan in Delhi received them from the central authorities and ensured their safe transfer to the state facility, where temporary accommodation and meals were arranged.
The repatriates were in a distressed state, officials said, as their mobile phones had been seized in Myanmar and they had no money on hand. To support their immediate needs, the Andhra Pradesh government provided financial assistance of ₹1,000 per person for miscellaneous expenses during their onward journey.
The AP Bhavan team also coordinated with Northern Railway officials to secure Emergency Quota (EQ) tickets, facilitating timely travel for all individuals. They are scheduled to depart for their respective hometowns on Friday.
The rescued individuals expressed profound gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh government for the care extended to them upon their arrival in Delhi.
With this latest operation, the state government has successfully assisted a total of 79 individuals from Andhra Pradesh who were trapped in the Myanmar cybercrime network.
Earlier, 24 people from various regions of Andhra Pradesh had also been repatriated from Thailand. The victims were initially lured with promises of high-paying overseas jobs but were later held captive by organised cyber fraud syndicates and forced to engage in illegal online activities.
After landing in Delhi, the returnees were questioned by immigration authorities and central agencies before being handed over to state representatives.
In a similar operation earlier this month, 11 people from Telangana were among 270 Indians repatriated from Thailand. They had fled to Thailand following a military crackdown on Myanmar-based cybercrime hubs.
The Indian government continues its coordinated efforts to rescue and repatriate nationals trapped in fraudulent cybercrime setups across the Myanmar–Thailand border region.
