Vijayawada: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has intensified its probe into the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case. Officials on Friday arrested Vasudeva Reddy, who is named as Accused No. 2 (A2) in the case.
He was produced before the ACB Court in Vijayawada, which remanded him to judicial custody till February 27. Following the court’s orders, police shifted him to Guntur District Jail.
In its remand report submitted to the court, the SIT revealed several crucial findings. Investigators stated that Vasudeva Reddy played a key and central role in the alleged liquor scam. Technical evidence, forensic science laboratory (FSL) reports, and statements from examined witnesses clearly establish his involvement, the report said.
According to the SIT, Vasudeva Reddy allegedly supervised the entire process of liquor sales, purchases, orders, and supply operations. Though the functioning of Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) was fully online, he is accused of playing a crucial role in shifting certain operations to manual mode without proper authorisation.
The SIT further stated that a syndicate was formed as part of the scam, allegedly influencing officials and staff. The report also mentioned that settlements were carried out through A1 Rajasekhar Reddy and his associates as part of the larger conspiracy.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are likely as the SIT continues to examine financial and digital records.
