Tears at Rajanna’s Abode: Degrees in Hand, Begging in Fate

At the sacred Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district, a heart-rending story of an educated couple has moved devotees and officials alike.

Jalandhar Reddy, an LLB graduate, and his wife Shirisha, a B.Com (Computers) graduate, now survive by seeking alms near the temple premises. Originally from Karimnagar, the couple reportedly moved to Vemulawada due to Shirisha’s deteriorating health. Placing their faith in Lord Rajanna, they began living near the temple, taking up small tasks and depending on devotees’ offerings for survival.

During a recent counselling session conducted by police and officials for beggars around the temple, authorities were stunned by the couple’s fluent English and dignified demeanor. The husband’s unwavering support for his ailing wife deeply moved those present.

The temple vicinity reportedly shelters over 100 beggars, most of them elderly. Many claim they were driven out due to family disputes, harassment, or fear. Officials have assured strict legal action against those who neglect or abuse senior citizens and promised support and rehabilitation where possible.

The story stands as a stark reminder that education alone cannot shield one from life’s uncertainties — yet, enduring companionship remains a powerful testament to human resilience.
