Telangana/Hyderabad: In a significant political development, senior Congress leader and former minister Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy has resigned from the party’s primary membership, triggering a stir in Telangana politics. He released his resignation letter in the presence of party workers in Jagtial.
Reddy launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress high command, stating that he had been undergoing severe mental distress within the party for the past 20 months. He said he could no longer continue in a place where he felt disrespected.
He alleged that defections were being encouraged in Telangana contrary to Rahul Gandhi’s principles. He also expressed strong dissatisfaction over the induction and prioritization of Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar into the party.
Reddy criticized the leadership for sidelining loyal party workers who had worked hard for over a decade, while giving importance to those who had previously opposed them. He further alleged that the Chief Minister failed to even console him after the death of a close associate.
Declaring that his future political fight would be against Revanth Reddy’s policies, Jeevan Reddy stood firm on his decision despite persuasion attempts by senior leaders, including ministers Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud. With a strong cadre base in Jagtial, his move may have wider political implications.
