AP – Parvathipuram : District Collector Dr. N. Prabhakar Reddy has directed staff deployed at the EVM strong room to remain alert at all times. He conducted an inspection of the EVM and VVPAT storage facility at the district headquarters on Thursday in the presence of representatives of various political parties.
During the inspection, the Collector reviewed the overall security arrangements and maintenance of the strong room. He stated that the inspection was part of the routine checks conducted once every three months. He examined the CCTV surveillance system and police security arrangements and verified the security registers, instructing staff to maintain constant vigilance.
The Collector also advised officials to ensure proper storage capacity for EVMs, adequate ventilation and lighting, and to take precautions to prevent moisture inside the facility. He emphasized that fire safety equipment must always be in proper working condition.
He confirmed that the seals of the strong room were intact as per Election Commission guidelines. Later, he cross-checked the stock register with the actual number of EVMs, control units, and VVPATs available.
District Revenue Officer K. Hemalatha, Sub-Collector R. Vaishali, representatives of various political parties, and officials from revenue and election departments were present during the inspection.
