Awareness and Rule Compliance Key to Prevent Road Accidents: Karimnagar CP Ghouse Alam

  •  Awareness seminar under Phase-3 of ‘Arrive Alive’ program
  •  CP expresses concern over 200 deaths in road accidents last year
  •  Guidelines issued to auto drivers and Rapido captains; best drivers felicitated

Karimnagar: Karimnagar Police Commissioner Ghouse Alam stated that road accident prevention cannot be achieved by police efforts alone, and emphasized that only when motorists are fully aware of traffic rules and follow them responsibly can a safe, accident-free society be ensured.

He was speaking as the chief guest at an awareness seminar under Phase-3 of the ‘Arrive Alive’ program, organized by Karimnagar Traffic Police at Astra Convention Hall for auto drivers and Rapido captains.

During his address, the CP expressed concern that around 200 people lost their lives in road accidents within the commissionerate limits last year. He pointed out that most fatalities were due to human errors such as not wearing helmets or seat belts, over-speeding, and drunk driving.

He noted that 85% of the victims were men and emphasized that the death of one individual often pushes an entire family into distress.

The CP also informed that accident-prone ‘black spots’ have been identified on roads leading from Karimnagar to Hyderabad, Warangal, Jagtial, Sircilla, and Choppadandi. Special surveillance and warning signboards are being installed at these locations. Signboards have already been set up at Lingapur Crossroads near Huzurabad.

He advised drivers to adopt ‘defensive driving’ by staying alert and observing surroundings while driving.

Doctors from Medicover Hospital, led by Dr. Lokesh, gave a live demonstration on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to help drivers respond effectively during emergencies.

The Traffic ACP explained laws related to hit-and-run cases and stated that under the ‘Rahveer’ scheme, the government provides a cash reward of ₹25,000 to those who help accident victims reach hospitals in time and save lives.

Additional DCP Venkataramana, Traffic ACP Yadagiri Swamy, Inspectors Sanjeev, Kumaraswamy, Kiran Kumar, Dr. Lokesh from Medicover Hospital, Rapido Associate Manager Durga Rao, and other officials were present at the event.
