No Road, Only Voluntary Labour… Will the Water Crisis End?

Andhra Pradesh State- Tribal families of Amalaguda village in Ananthagiri mandal of Alluri Sitharama Raju district are facing severe difficulties due to the lack of drinking water and road connectivity. Around 10 families are living in the village, but they continue to suffer without even basic infrastructure facilities.

For drinking water, villagers are forced to travel long distances by climbing down and trekking up steep hills. With the arrival of summer, natural water sources have dried up, making the situation even more critical, villagers said.

Due to the absence of a proper road, materials required for the installation of a drinking water tap are unable to reach the village. Following the directions of the District Collector, villagers themselves have started clearing bushes and preparing a pathway through voluntary labour to facilitate road access.

In this regard, the villagers submitted a petition to the District Collector on May 27, 2026, requesting sanction of funds for road construction to the village. They expressed hope that the government would finally respond and resolve their long-pending road problem.

Korra Gopi, Korra Kousalya, Kurra Radha, village elders, and several family members actively participated in the voluntary labour programme.
