Telangana State-Chegunta/Toopran Division, Medak District : Workers of Apollo Tubes Limited, located on the outskirts of Vadiyaram village in Chegunta mandal under the Toopran division, have launched a protest demanding the immediate cancellation of alleged illegal transfers. The employees, particularly 69 permanent local workers, staged a sit-in after repeated appeals to management went unanswered.
On the second day of the protest today, the workers organized a community cooking program (vanta vaarpu) as part of their peaceful agitation. They expressed strong opposition to the management’s decision to transfer them to far-off states like Delhi and Chhattisgarh, claiming it would be extremely difficult to support their families if forced to relocate.
The workers accused the management of deliberately planning to remove them under the guise of transfers and criticized the lack of basic safety measures in the factory, warning that even minor negligence could lead to fatal consequences.
The protest has received support from Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) leaders. BMS district president Narsimhareddy and Telangana state vice-president Pradeep Kumar visited the site and expressed solidarity with the protesting workers. They demanded that all illegal transfers be revoked immediately and alleged that the management has no concern for worker welfare.
“The management is only focused on pushing workers out instead of protecting their rights. If the illegal transfers are not cancelled soon, we will intensify our protests on a larger scale,” warned BMS leaders.
The union also stated that peaceful protests will continue until justice is served and the demands of the workers are fulfilled.
Prominent union members who participated in the protest include:
Pradeep Kumar (State Vice President, BMS)
Narsimhareddy (District President, BMS)
Kulla Narsingh (General Secretary)
Kunta Raj Kumar (Treasurer)
Chavan Suresh Kumar, Srinivas, Naveen Yadav, Peddakrishna, Sunil, Paswan, and several other union workers.
The workers reiterated their stand: they are not against transfers in general, but strongly oppose transfers that disrupt their families and livelihoods without proper justification or dialogue.
