MRPS Pays Floral Tributes to Madiga Martyrs at Gooty

Anantapur District, Gooty: Members of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) paid rich tributes to Madiga martyrs at Gandhi Circle in Gooty town of Anantapur district on Sunday. The homage program was organized under the leadership of MRPS as a mark of respect to those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for Scheduled Caste categorization.

Addressing the gathering, MRPS district leader Nagadani Eeranna said that in 1994, under the leadership of Manda Krishna Madiga, the “Dandora” movement was launched to demand the classification of Scheduled Castes into A, B, C, and D categories. As part of this movement, MRPS was formed and has been fighting relentlessly for the past 30 years to achieve justice for the Madiga community, ultimately attaining success in its long-standing struggle.

He recalled that Tellabandla Ravi Madiga from Yerraguntapalli in Anantapur district was the first to sacrifice his life in the SC categorization movement. Several others also laid down their lives and became guiding forces behind the success of the movement.

Eeranna further stated that Veeranna from Gooty town, who fought for MRPS from the early days of the agitation and later passed away, remains an inspiration to everyone in the community.

The program was attended by MRPS district secretary Veeranna, mandal leaders Satya, Veeranjaneyulu, Ayyappa, CPI mandal secretary Ramadasu, CCHC Rangadu, Maddileti, Suri, Ramanjaneyulu, Prabhakar, and several MRPS leaders and activists.
