PM Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Netherlands

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the Indian diaspora after arriving in The Hague on Saturday as part of his official visit to the Netherlands. Hundreds of expatriate Indians gathered to greet the Prime Minister ahead of a community event, turning the venue into a vibrant celebration of Indian culture and unity.

People carrying Indian flags and chanting patriotic slogans expressed excitement at getting an opportunity to see the Prime Minister in person. Many members of the Indian community described the occasion as a proud and memorable moment.

“It is an honour for us to welcome Prime Minister Modi to our country. His visit makes every Indian here feel proud,” said one member of the diaspora. Another attendee shared, “Seeing PM Modi in The Hague this morning is a moment I will cherish forever.”

Representatives from the Ramayana World also expressed happiness over the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister and thanked the Indian Embassy for organizing the event.

The cultural welcome featured performances of several Indian classical dance forms, including Kathak, Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam, along with a colourful Garba performance. Prime Minister Modi later shared pictures from the event on X, calling the reception in the Netherlands “wonderful” and praising the vibrant cultural presentation by the Indian community.

During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Dutch leader Rob Jetten. He is also expected to meet Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima as part of his diplomatic engagements.

The visit, which will continue until May 17, is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation between India and the Netherlands in areas such as trade, technology, investment and strategic partnerships. This marks PM Modi’s second visit to the Netherlands since 2017, and officials believe the trip will further deepen bilateral ties between the two nations.
