YSRCP Leader Attempts Suicide, Alleges Harassment by Piduguralla CI Venkata Rao

Piduguralla, Palnadu District: The alleged suicide attempt of Jada Surendra, the 22nd Ward Councillor of Piduguralla town, has become a major topic of discussion across Palnadu district. Surendra, who is currently undergoing treatment at Palnadu Hospital, spoke to the media and made a series of allegations regarding the circumstances that he claims drove him to take the extreme step.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Surendra alleged that he had been facing continuous harassment over a financial dispute related to a restaurant he purchased nearly two years ago. According to him, he had already paid ₹30 lakh towards the transaction, but a man identified as Nallati Subbarao continued to demand additional money.

Surendra claimed that he possesses documentary evidence, including videos, photographs, and other records, to prove the payments he had already made. He further stated that these materials had been submitted to the police as well.

Despite presenting what he described as evidence, Surendra alleged that he continued to face pressure and was being asked to pay an additional ₹75 lakh. He said he had brought the matter to the attention of Piduguralla Circle Inspector (CI) Venkata Rao and had submitted all available documents, but claimed that he did not receive justice.

According to Surendra, payments related to other stakeholders in the transaction had already been settled and discussions regarding the dispute were ongoing. However, he alleged that the pressure from Nallati Subbarao continued unabated. He also claimed that he had requested additional time because another individual, identified as Matta Reddy, was unavailable, but his request was not considered.

Surendra further alleged that around ten days later he was summoned to the police station and pressured to pay money that he claims was actually owed by Matta Reddy. Unable to cope with the mounting mental stress, he said he paid another ₹10 lakh. Even after that payment, he alleged that the harassment did not stop and that he was repeatedly called to the police station and asked to arrange more money.

He also claimed that certain remarks made during the dispute deeply affected him emotionally. Surendra alleged that when he expressed hope that better days would eventually come for him, he was met with dismissive comments and statements suggesting that those involved could not be held accountable.

Becoming emotional while speaking to reporters, Surendra said he has a wife and two daughters and could not bring himself to sell family assets for the benefit of others. He stated that he considered betraying his family’s interests unacceptable and felt driven to take the extreme step because of the pressure he says he was facing.

The incident has triggered reactions from local leaders, social organizations, and community representatives, many of whom are demanding a comprehensive and impartial investigation. They have called upon higher authorities to examine the circumstances that led to the suicide attempt and determine the veracity of the allegations made by the councillor.

Meanwhile, doctors continue to monitor Surendra’s condition at Palnadu Hospital. The individuals named in the allegations, as well as police officials, are yet to issue detailed public responses.

Disclaimer: The allegations mentioned in this report are based solely on statements made by Jada Surendra to the media.
