New Delhi : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from his post following allegations surrounding the NEET paper leak controversy. Calling the resignation a “victory for students,” the Cockroach Janata Party (SJP) celebrated the development on Saturday.
Reacting through the social media platform X, the SJP stated that one of its key demands had been fulfilled. The party said the development proved that peaceful protests inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals can achieve meaningful results.
SJP founder Abhijeet Deepke said the success belonged to students across the country, adding that the youth’s peaceful struggle had finally yielded results. Following the news of the minister’s resignation, protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, celebrating the announcement. The party also called for a candlelight march at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
SJP leaders said the nationwide youth movement had demonstrated the strength of democracy and proved that peaceful protests cannot be ignored. They clarified that their movement was not politically motivated but aimed solely at protecting students’ interests.
The party further stated that only one of its major demands had been met and that it would continue its agitation until the remaining two demands were fulfilled. It also demanded strict action against police personnel accused of attacking peacefully protesting students and vowed to continue the movement until comprehensive reforms are introduced in the country’s education system.
