Tirupati – AP: Tirupati police have cracked the high-value iPhone theft case at Sona Vision Mobile Showroom on the Air Bypass Road within just six days. Five members of an interstate theft gang were arrested in connection with the burglary, Tirupati District Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the gang broke through the showroom wall and escaped with 195 iPhones and five Apple iPads worth approximately ₹1.50 crore.
Special police teams conducted an extensive search across Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar and arrested the prime accused, Alam Sheikh, along with Piyarpur Sheikh, Toufiq Sheikh, Mohammed Azamat Sheikh and Anikul Sheikh.
Police recovered all 195 stolen iPhones and five Apple iPads from the accused. Two vehicles allegedly used in the commission of the crime were also seized.
SP L. Subbarayudu appreciated the special police teams for their coordinated investigation and for travelling to other states to trace the accused and recover the stolen property.
The swift action by the Tirupati police has brought a major breakthrough in the high-value theft case, with further investigation underway.
