Jagtial District, Telangana: A plastic cover found in a serving of biryani at a restaurant in Metpally town has sparked concern among customers, raising fresh questions about food safety and hygiene standards in local eateries.
According to the victims, Karunakar, a resident of Metpally, visited RB Restaurant with his family and friends for a meal. While they were eating, his son allegedly discovered a piece of plastic inside the biryani. The incident shocked the family and disrupted their meal. The family also claimed that some portion of the contaminated food may have already been consumed, causing concerns about possible health complications.
When the customers questioned the restaurant management about the incident, they alleged that the staff responded casually and treated it as a routine issue, further angering the victims. They demanded strict action against the restaurant for allegedly compromising customer safety.
Local residents expressed serious concern over the incident, stating that the presence of plastic or other hazardous materials in food can pose significant health risks. They urged restaurant owners to maintain proper hygiene, ensure food quality, and follow food safety standards without compromise.
Residents also pointed out that while the number of fast-food outlets and restaurants in Metpally has increased in recent years, quality control and cleanliness have not kept pace. They called on the Food Safety Department to immediately inspect restaurants in the town and take stringent action against establishments found violating food safety regulations.
The incident has triggered widespread public concern, with consumers warning that restaurants playing with the health and lives of customers should face strict legal action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
