Road Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility; Avoid Negligence: DGP Shivadhar Reddy

Telangana – Karimnagar: State Director General of Police (DGP) Shivadhar Reddy emphasized that road safety is the responsibility of every individual and urged motorists to avoid negligence under all circumstances. He attended the “Arrive Alive” Road Safety Week celebrations आयोजित by the Telangana Police as part of the state government’s prestigious 99-day “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” program on Friday in Karimnagar.

The DGP participated as the chief guest in a road safety awareness seminar held at Astra Convention Hall under the Karimnagar Commissionerate. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted several crucial aspects of road safety.

Referring to a recent tragic incident in Sangareddy, where a man died in a road accident and his entire family later died by suicide, he expressed deep anguish. He said such incidents clearly show how one person’s negligence can destroy an entire family.

He advised motorists to practice defensive driving, remain alert to surrounding conditions, and strictly follow the “3-second brake rule.”

The program turned emotional when family members of road accident victims shared their experiences, leaving the audience in tears. The DGP stated that such stories should serve as a strong reminder for all road users to act responsibly. Financial assistance was provided to the affected families by the police department.

As part of the event, prizes were distributed to students who won competitions like “Letter to a Father” and essay writing. Individuals who saved accident victims by ensuring treatment within the “Golden Hour” were honored with shawls and mementos by the DGP.

He further stressed the need to create awareness about road safety at village and ward levels across the Karimnagar Commissionerate and assured that the police department remains committed to public safety.

Senior police officials, ACPs, CIs, SIs, and other staff members attended the event.
